This figure is automatically calculated based on your answers to 2.2, 4.1, 4.4, 4.5a,  4.9a, and 5.1. It will also include any data from 5.2a and 6.1a if you provided it.

It represents your total carbon footprint made up of energy, water, travel, waste, freight, procurement and digital.

It excludes emissions from homeworking, commuting and audience travel.

Reason for this figure

This allows you to see the size of your organisation’s carbon footprint automatically. It allows you to build your answers to the rest of the survey based on that.

Calculation methodology

This question converts any usage/consumption data into emissions in kgCO2e using the UK government emissions factors. It then sums all these emissions derived from your answers to give the various emissions totals.

This figure is automatically calculated based on your answers to 3.1, 4.6a and 4.7a. It represents the emissions from homeworking, commuting and audience travel.

Reason for this figure

These emissions have been separated off from your total footprint because they are generally outside your direct control. However, they are still included here because they are important parts of your organisation’s operations and in some cases can represent significant emissions.

You are encouraged to consider how your organisation can use its influence to affect change in these areas.
