SPRINGBOARD 2025: Watch parties

Aberdeen Performing Arts and The Barn, Banchory are arts organisations in the north east of Scotland with a commitment to exploring the role of the arts in reimagining how our world will be in the face of climate change. We invite others to come along to the Music Hall in Aberdeen to join us in this conversation as we host the SPRINGBOARD Assembly watch party.

UWS Ayr facilitated the Ayrshire SPRINGBOARD local assembly and hosted two events over the past 18 months that have brought together cultural actors as well as representatives from the NHS to build conversations and communities around cultural response to climate. We have proposed another local assembly for later in 2025 that aims to develop some creative actions and responses to climate and to look at practices in the sector.

The watch party will be a fantastic moment to come together and consider conversations and reflections from the broader Culture For Climate Scotland community as we plan further Ayrshire action.

We are excited to be hosting a SPRINGBOARD watch party as this offers an excellent, but all too rare, local opportunity for cross-sector collaboration around climate action. Always an inspiring event, we know SPRINGBOARD features cutting-edge ideas and showcases creative approaches to sustainability.

Hosting a watch party here in Caithness will allow our local community to collectively absorb these ideas and tailor the discussion to our important, and often underrepresented, local context. We hope we will end the day with meaningful, local actions taken forward by a more connected network of creative climate activists.

The Stove Network is an arts and community organisation in the heart of. We’re a café, a meeting place and an events venue with a diverse programme stretching across music and literature, visual and public art, film and theatre, to town planning, architecture and design. We see the arts not as something solely for an ‘arts audience’ but rather as a vital contribution to society on all fronts.

At the heart of everything we do is a love for Dumfries and the wider region. We work alongside our local authority, community organisations, local businesses and charities to create a vision for the future of Dumfries High Street.

Dundee Rep and Scottish Dance Theatre has a long track record in fostering equality, diversity and inclusion and mitigating our environmental impact, acting as an avid agent and campaigner for change.

Environmental Impact/Sustainability and EDI are two of our four strategic priorities. Learning, innovation and collaboration with partners are the driving forces of our environmental and EDI strategy. We are committed to leading the necessary adaptations towards net zero, recognising the effects of our business operations on the planet.

Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop is a charity based in a bespoke sculpture centre in the residential neighbourhood of Newhaven, north Edinburgh. We support people to learn about visual art ideas and processes by providing subsidised studios, workshop facilities, engagement activity, artist development, commissions, talks and exhibitions. We are a hub for a series of overlapping communities, with local and international connections.

Adapting to climate change, decarbonising our buildings and applying environmentally responsible approaches are important to us and we are hosting a watch party in order to learn as an organisation and to offer this to other interested parties nearby.

ArtMovesFife is an artist-led collaborative artwork working to connect people, place, culture and planet in creative ‘artmoves’, consultation events and commissions. In this work we look to repair connections to our local landscapes and open up conversations around the role of the arts in noticing and caring.

We hope to build a supportive community that engages with the growing body of knowledge around climate impacts within research and policy and that looks to ask questions around fairness and equality.

As the professional body for library staff across Scotland, CILIPS is passionate about the vital role of libraries in growing locally-rooted environmental action

Libraries of all sectors are the beating hearts of their communities, trusted to innovate and inspire in a uniquely equitable way. We hope that our watch party will unite library professionals with the patrons we serve to learn new ways in which culture can empower us all to combat the climate crisis.

We believe that libraries have a key part to play in illuminating radical, sustainable alternatives to how we work, live and create together, grounded in resource and knowledge sharing. If you agree, please join us!

Woodlands Community Development Trust runs spaces, programmes and events that support a wide range of local residents. All our initiatives are shaped by our values and designed to integrate social wellbeing with the environment.

We are hosting a watch party because SPRINGBOARD fits in with our vision as an organisation. We hope our watch party will bring folk together to engage with the assembly’s lively programme, to empower people to think about the climate emergency and the value of arts and culture within this conversation.

We align with the demands surrounding the climate crisis, the economic and funding environment and the long-tail effects of the pandemic and various crises. Hosting this event is interesting for us both as a charity working in the voluntary sector and because many of our service users, volunteers and staff members are also creative beings who care about the planet.

As two organisations with sustainability at their core, Agile City and the National Theatre of Scotland are delighted to co-host a SPRINGBOARD watch party in Civic House.

NTS, former tenants of Civic House, are now neighbours of Agile City in the Forth and Clyde canal area of north Glasgow.

Agile City is a community interest company that manages The Glue Factory and Civic House. Their goal is to revitalise post-industrial spaces for public use and spread the knowledge of how to retrofit our built environment.

National Theatre of Scotland, a “theatre without walls” presents an annual nation-wide touring programme each year. They are committed to ensuring sustainability and the protection of the environment sits at the heart of their work.

Sustainability is at the heart of Creative Stirling’s policy-led commitment: sustainability of our organisation, our communities and foremost in these critical times, our planet. We do this by creating programmes to support artist-led enterprise, local creative networks and enhance the cultural experience of all who engage with us. Our thriving multi-purpose arts and cultural venue is the driving force being the successful trading company ‘Made in Stirling CIC’ established in 2021.

We know that culture has a key role in engaging people with the climate emergency and we are delighted to be hosting a SPRINGBOARD assembly 2025 watch party.
